Elk Valley Pride Festival: What To Look Out For

Fernie Pride Society are once again excited to welcome back visitors to the Canadian Rockies for the Elk Valley Pride Festival. This multiday event in Fernie, BC is a celebration of friendship, fun, and unity.

We’d love for everyone get the most out of your time here, so we’ve put together an itinerary of just some of the things to look out for, and participate in throughout the week.

Elk Valley Pride Festival takes places this year on September 18-22nd, 2024.

Things to look out for at Elk Valley Pride Festival

The festivities will take place at a number of locations around Fernie, but are mostly centred around Fernie’s Historic Downtown 2nd Avenue.

Flag Raising and Parade

Join us outside Fernie City Hall as we kick off the Elk Valley Festival with the Opening Ceremony. This is followed soon after with the Bike Parade. Anyone can bring their bikes and join the community as we flood the streets adding a touch of vibrancy and a lot of noise as we pedal by.

Spirit and Song

Straight after the opening ceremony we’ll be socialising close by at the Fernie Distillers. Expect a cosy evening of live acoustic music for Spirit & Song. The distillery has an extensive menu of tasty and creative cocktails made with their award-winning spirits, as well as alcohol-free mocktails.

Drag Prom – Sept 20th 2024

Hosted by the Calgary’s legendary Drag Queen duo, Farrah Nuff & Nada Nuff. Prepare yourself for a wild evening of high energy antics and massive laughs at the Senior Centre. We recommend you get your tickets for this show fast as this event fills up quick every year!

Spectrum Queers Arts Day – Sept 21st 2024

…is a celebration of queer arts taking place throughout Saturday. Featuring an afternoon of live music, dance, drag, and art, this event is universally accessible, open to everyone and all ages, plus it’s totally free to attend!

2024’s line-up will feature live music from: Blond Diamond, Parlour Panther, Hyaenas, as well as live drag performances.

Fernie Pride Stride – Sept 20th 2024

You can’t visit Fernie and not get out and explore the Rocky Mountains. Hike Fernie will be venturing out with experienced ACMG hiking guide, Duncan Maisel to share the beauty of our spot in the Canadian Rockies.

Fernie Pride Stride hike will be suitable for all abilities. Bring good hiking footwear, at least 1L of water, hat, sunglasses, and most certainly your sense of adventure.

Queers on Gears – Sept 21st 2024

Fernie is well-renowned for its bike culture. Just open up the trail map and you may feel a little overwhelmed by the extensive trail network spanning over our five mountain areas. Get out rolling on dirt for Queers on Gears and you’ll see why Fernie is a must-ride mountain biking destination. You’ll be in hands of the RideTheory’s highly experienced MTB guiding and coaching crew for this morning adventure.

    Love , love, love, Pride is so important for all, Not only for the LGBTQ2S+ but for all human beings that just want be be loved and and feel loved. No matter who you are there is probably someone from The LGBTQ2S+ community that loves you, if you know it or not. “Love is Love”
