Elk Valley Pride Festival Support

The RDEK is seeking public input on the 2021/2022 proposals for the Community Initiatives and Affected Areas Programs and Fernie Pride Society has applied for support for the Elk Valley Pride Festival in 2021. We would very much appreciate if you could please take a few minutes and submit a comment to support our application.

We have applied for support from Fernie, Sparwood, Elkford, Area A, and Area B. The deadline to provide comment is noon on March 19, 2021. Please visit https://engage.rdek.bc.ca/cbt and scroll to the bottom of the page to submit your comment. Thank you so much!

Our application blurb: “The 5th Annual Elk Valley Pride Festival is a 5-day celebration of diversity, inclusion, and Pride for LGBTQ2+ individuals and allies and takes place primarily in Fernie, BC. The 5th annual celebration is scheduled for September 2021 and will feature cultural events for all ages, educational opportunities, a bike parade, and flag raising ceremony amongst a myriad of other activities. The Elk Valley Pride Festival format in 2021 will again be dictated by the current global pandemic and what is and is not recommended for public events. In September 2020 we successfully hosted the Festival with a combination of small (max 20 person) in-person events, virtual events, and live streaming. We will be planning for all scenarios but assume we will be again operating with a combination in small in-person and virtual events in 2021.”
