Bill Stearman Quiltivist: I Will Be Silent No More
6 October @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Join the @kootenaygayhistory Project and Quiltivist @bill_stearman for a discussion on Bill’s activism through quilt making … Quiltivism!
In this presentation, Bill will explain his Quilting the Progression of Queer Rights in Canada and why it is so important.
Fabrics and carefully placed stitches express joy, anguish, hope, gratitude and love, providing glimpses into deep and important stories – stories that matter on personal and social levels. His quilts make bold statements and provoke thoughtful consideration on a variety of important and relevant topics, such as gender identity, racism, the 2SLGBTQ+ community and his own personal stories and life events.
The focus will be on the quilts, the messages that they tell, and the issues that they address!
Whether a Queer, a quilter, a Queer Quilter, or just a lover of fibre arts, this free event is for you!
