Please bring government issued ID to partake in alcoholic ones. Please note that this is a 19+ event. \n\n\n\nDressing up is encouraged but respecting Prom as a safe space is MANDATORY! \n\n\n\nBring cash and/or card for purchasing beverages. Reminder: bring cash to tip the drag performers! \n\n\n\nProm will be held at the Fernie Senior’s Drop In Centre. \n\n\n\nThings to Note: \n\n\n\n\nFernie Pride-hired private security will be on-site.\n\n\n\nThe room will not be well lit and will have ambient as opposed to fluorescent lighting. There could be flashing lights and there will be loud music.\n\n\n\nThere is no interior space for a more chill zone unfortunately but outside is easily accessible if you need a break.\n\n\n\nThe venue is fully mobility device accessible including washrooms. It will be a standing event\, although some chairs will be provided for folks to rest at.\n\n\n\nWashrooms are located on the same floor as the event. DESCRIPTION:Dustin Dufault is a two-spirited person from the Yukon Territory. A proud Kaska Dena First Nations individual. Growing up in small northern towns he’s had to suppress her individuality and learn to express himself in a multitude of alternative ways. Art and performing were her outlets. Learning to love the journey was the first step in their happiness. Dustin became enamoured with Drag and later developed her drag personality Ella Lamoureux. Expressing himself in an extreme feminine way taught him that femininity is not to be avoided but embraced. Through drag she’s realized that Dustin and Ella are not separate people but one person. Just shown with a different light.  \n\n\n\nGrowing up fabulous in the North has many tough lessons but s/he would not be the person they are today without those lessons. Through the art of drag Dustin/Ella has embraced their femininity and helped them on their journey of cultural/two-spirit identity. Learn about their journey and how to incorporate little acts of decolonization into your daily life. \n\n\n\nTickets are $15/person and includes both the talk and lunch. DESCRIPTION:The Fernie Pride Queer Health Initiative is focused on a person’s whole health. This includes elements of what often gets labeled as self-care. Self-care is the practice of taking care of physical\, mental\, emotional\, and spiritual aspects of your life to promote health and wellness. Practicing self-care regularly can bring about both short and long-term benefits that lead to improved well-being and improved health status. The act of caring for oneself is an important part of overall well-being with the main goal of self-care to prevent or control disease and preserve health through consistently taking care of various aspects of your person\, of which there are many. \n\n\n\nFor the month of June\, extending if possible and as needed\, we are excited to partner with @thundermeadowshealth for Pay-What-You-Can treatments including massage\, craniosacral therapy\, fascial work\, physiotherapy\, pelvic health physiotherapy\, acupuncture\, relational health counselling\, and dietician services.  \n\n\n\nThunder Meadows Health & Wellness practitioners have all completed gender affirming therapy training in their respective discipline and offer a safe space where they can work with you to become mentally and physically stronger. DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, May 15\, 6pm at the Fernie Seniors Drop-In Centre (562 3rd Avenue). From May 11th to May 17th\, the Society of Queer Momentum (Momentum)\, alongside partner organizations across Canada\, is organizing a National Rainbow Week of Action to raise our voices to urge elected officials and governments at every level to take meaningful steps to address rising hate and advance equality for 2SLGBTQIA+ people in Canada. The goal of the Rainbow Week of Action is to create a more free\, equal\, and socially just Canada. For elected officials and governments at every level to confront rising hate and advance 2SLGBTQIA+ equality. Ultimately\, we are calling for individual Elected Officials to: \n\n\n\n• Complete our Rainbow Pledge in support of 2SLGBTQIA+ rights and rainbow equality. \n\n\n\n• Publicly condemn the rise in anti-2SLGBTQIA+ hate taking place across Canada. \n\n\n\n• Speak up in the House of Commons\, Council Meetings or Legislature to urge action to \n\n\n\nadvance rainbow equality and address rising hate.  \n\n\n\nTo help aid this cause\, Fernie Pride is hosting a Community Potluck and Letter Writing Party. Bring a dish to share and your beverage of choice. We will supply all the stamps\, paper\, envelopes\, and whatever else you may need to craft your letter. We will also have a letter template available for you to use if you like.

DESCRIPTION:Ryan Collins explores the implications of being a gay man in Revelstoke\, BC\, while seeking to frame a larger picture of queer life in a mountain small-town. \n\n\n\nPeople Like Us follows Ryan as he connects with the queer communityof Revelstoke\, seeking their opinions and stories and relationship withmountain culture\, in the hope of building perspective into what it is like to be queer in a rural setting. \n\n\n\nAfter moving to Revelstoke in 2020 to work in the mountain sports industry\, Ryan felt welcomed\, building a strong friend group and work opportunities. Despite this warm reception\, he started to feel that there was something missing\, a connection with people like him. As Ryan actively reaches out to members of the local queer community he begins to build a better understanding of the shared queer experience. In doing so People Like Us will celebrate the existence of queer folks in non-urban settings\, and show that healthy queer communities can flourish in small towns. \n\n\n\nThe screening will be followed by a panel discussion facilitated by Patty Vadnais and featuring Ryan Collins\, Janet Wong\, Jas Clancy\, and some fab Fernie locals. \n\n\n\nThis very special evening is a fundraiser for Fernie Pride Society. $10 ticket price includes automatic entry for raffle prizes!  \n\n\n\n\nBuy Tickets Here
