DESCRIPTION:Fernie Pride is excited to be hosting the Free To Be auction again this coming June! Free To Be is a virtual opportunity for you to support Pride in the Elk Valley and South Country we encourage you to click around and bid\, bid\, bid!  \n\n\n\nOur goal for 2024 is to raise $6\,500.00 and all money raised will be used directly for supporting inclusion and equity initiatives in the region. This includes youth and adult programming\, resource development\, education programs\, capacity building programs\, peer support\, and so much more!  \n\n\n\nFernie Pride would also send the biggest of thank you’s to the absolutely fabulous businesses in the Elk Valley that have donated items to Free To Be. We are so incredibly humbled by your generosity and your commitment to equity and inclusion and we could not be more appreciative. So thank you a million times over! \n\n\n\nThe Free To Be Auction will be available for preview starting May 27 with items up for bid from June 1 to June 30. SUMMARY:Rainbow Week of Action Community Potluck and Letter Writing Party
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, May 15\, 6pm at the Fernie Seniors Drop-In Centre (562 3rd Avenue). From May 11th to May 17th\, the Society of Queer Momentum (Momentum)\, alongside partner organizations across Canada\, is organizing a National Rainbow Week of Action to raise our voices to urge elected officials and governments at every level to take meaningful steps to address rising hate and advance equality for 2SLGBTQIA+ people in Canada. The goal of the Rainbow Week of Action is to create a more free\, equal\, and socially just Canada. For elected officials and governments at every level to confront rising hate and advance 2SLGBTQIA+ equality. Ultimately\, we are calling for individual Elected Officials to: \n\n\n\n• Complete our Rainbow Pledge in support of 2SLGBTQIA+ rights and rainbow equality. \n\n\n\n• Publicly condemn the rise in anti-2SLGBTQIA+ hate taking place across Canada. \n\n\n\n• Speak up in the House of Commons\, Council Meetings or Legislature to urge action to \n\n\n\nadvance rainbow equality and address rising hate.  \n\n\n\nTo help aid this cause\, Fernie Pride is hosting a Community Potluck and Letter Writing Party. Bring a dish to share and your beverage of choice. We will supply all the stamps\, paper\, envelopes\, and whatever else you may need to craft your letter. We will also have a letter template available for you to use if you like.
