Camp fYrefly Update

Camp fYrefly is Canada’s only national youth leadership retreat for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, two-spirit, asexual, intersex, queer, questioning, and allied youth. The camp provides a space for youth to explore their identity, build resilience and enhance self-esteem, all while having an awesome camp experience. Participants return home with a support network of positive friendships, trusted adult mentors, and an empowered sense of self.

With the current Covid-19 pandemic a physical Camp fYrefly in Kananaskis (June 30-July 3) will unfortunately not be running. While we know that nothing will quite replace the in-person experience of Camp fYrefly, the amazing organizers are committed to creating an online and remote option so participants still have access to support and community. Camp fYrefly is a space that exists not just alongside a river or lake, in a cabin or forest but in the hearts, minds and connections to community. Further updates will be available soon to provide more info on online camp.

The courage to live openly and authentically should be applauded everyday but for today we want to say thank you for you and all that you do. Transgender Day of Visibility is the time to show your support for the trans community. Learn 10 things you can do today for clicking here!

Elk Valley Pride Festival Support

The Fernie Pride Society has submitted a grant to the RDEK for the CBT Affected Area Program. Normally, we would go and present on our organization and the importance of our work to Elk Valley Communities. As all public meetings are unfortunately closed due to COVID-19 they are asking for online feedback from you!

Please take a few minutes and click hereto say how and why our work is valued and why it is critical to continue events like the Elk Valley Pride Festival.

Thanks to each and everyone one of you for taking a few minutes to do this and we can’t wait to say thanks in person soon!
