Quiet Heros: A Documentary

Read the Calgary Herald article about the documentary Quiet Heros. It pays tribute to reluctant gay-rights pioneer Everett Klippert and the Calgary historian who worked to keep his memory alive.

“Those pebbles make huge ripples. Kevin’s writing was picked up by The Globe and Mail and national publications and that led to the apology from Justin Trudeau. Whether it’s Everett Klippert, this unassuming public bus driver, or Kevin toiling away and researching for years, this work is important. I hope it inspires other people to continue or start work that they feel passionate about. It can affect change.”

This year Fernie Pride Society is participating in the annual Fernie Arts Station dumpster painting event!

Come see our amazing volunteer artist Pruthvi Harshan turn a dumpster into something truly beautiful. Pru has created a community side of the dumpster so that everyone who would like to come down and help with the painting is welcome to participate. Pride and Pru will be there, so make sure you pop by and say hello!

The Dumpster painting is taking place in the cool afternoon, June 30th from 4-9pm at Station Square outside the Fernie Arts Station at 601 1st Ave.

Come down to see the dumpsters being created, contribute to the community dumpster, have a beer and listen to the sounds of DJ JayRay. Finally, don’t forget to vote in the people’s choice award and support our local artists!

Watch out on the Friday night prior to the event to see them all getting started – also with live DJ!
